Singing in the Rain

Workout: 25 mins (intermediate level) bike with millions of ab PT exercises

NOTE: I apologize now for my lack of pictures...

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a relaxing Sunday.  I had a great time at GOTR (Girls on the Run) and love the girls I'm working with.  There are some crazy speedy runners in that group, and they're all hilarious (I forgot what it was like to be a pre-teen).

Our lesson focused on how to be yourself:  Most girls/women...even some men...feel like they have to act a certain way to be excepted in today's society, when, in reality, being honest and being yourself is much more important.  The girls gave great examples of ways to be yourself and to accept others (my favorite example was 'Singing in the rain'...it must have been something one of the girls enjoyed doing that she thought others would think was weird...I loved it!!) , and it was really awarding to see a group of girls who didn't judge or make fun of each other.  I remember being on sports teams where I were afraid to make any mistakes because I knew one of my 'teammates' would yell at me/make fun of me for it.

Well...enough of that...it's time to get ready for another crazy week.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you usually worry about what others think of you...or do you 'sing in the rain'?

Why does the weekend go so fast....yet the week takes FOREVER?!

I can't believe the weekend is almost over, yet this past week took FOREVER!

Todays is going to be a pretty crazy day since I have church until 11:30, then have to eat lunch (at Subway...YUM) really quick before coaching at my local YMCA for Girls on the Run.  They started this past Thursday, but I'll probably be coaching only on Sundays.  I'm excited/nervous, but I'm coaching with my friend Megan and she told she had a blast on Thursday.

Megan and I at the Annapolis Ten Miler two years ago...it was cancelled this year due to a hurricane, but we are both injured and couldn't run it anyways...

I have to go get ready for church, but I'll recap my first day at GOTR this afternoon.  Have a great Sunday everyone!

Girl's Night :)...and waking up early

Workout:  20 mins bike with millions of PT ab exercises (I HEART ENDORPHINS!)

I think I still have a chocolate hangover from last night...

While our significant others played Lord of the Rings Risk (nerds) my three girlfriends and I had a girls night at my place.  We gossiped, ate chocolate PB brownies, Extreme Cookies and Creme and Party Cake ice cream (two different flavor...both equally AMAZING!) and watched two episodes of Gilmore Girls.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies

This is considered half a serving, right?!

After that really fun (late) night, my body decided to hate me and wake me up at 6:30am this morning (I went to bed at midnight).  Does this happen to anyone else?!  I assumed that since I went to bed at 12:00am my body would want at least eight hours of sleep and I would wake up at 8:00am.  Welp...you know what happens when you assume...

So after going to the gym, cleaning, shopping and eating lunch at Chick-fil-a (has anyone seen this hilarious song about Chick-fil-a?) with the hubby I watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls and took a nap.  It's been a great, relaxing Saturday :)  Tomorrow will be a crazier day complete with church and Girls on the Run (which I'm super excited about!!).

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Sorry for the delay...

Happy Friday fellow bloggers!  Sorry for being so absent from the blog world lately.  But here is my injury update:

It looks like my SI joint likes to pop out of place more often than both myself, my PTA and PT thought. I was excitedly (is that a word?!) doing the Arc Trainer for ten minutes in addition to biking, but now I'm back to biking, but for 20 minutes...so I can't complain.  I welcome any endorphins at this point...and so does my husband (I think my mood was not so pleasant due to the lack of exercise).
So I was looking at Peanut Butter Finger's blog the other day and found some really good quotes:

Can't everyone relate to this?!

I liked this one too....

Now it's time to get ready for girl's night...complete with chocolate peanut butter swirl brownies...with ice cream...and extra Reese's. Did I mention that I love the chocolate and PB combo?!

What are some of your favorite quotes?

No Pain....Thus Far

Happy Friday!! I'm so excited for the weekend, especially since I still have this cold and plan to sleep and watch tons of GILRMORE GIRLS or whatever I can find on Netflix (I have all the season of GG minus Season 5...they aren't on Netflix).

At PT today (my only PT session this week due to the flooding that occurred on Wednesday...how rude Mother Nature!) I did a ton of ab exercises and did the exercise bike for 12 minutes PAIN FREE!! The PT also said I could work out (aka bike not run) as long as there was ZERO pain.  I plan to go to the gym tomorrow if I feel up to it...maybe even do 15 minutes on the bike and see how it goes!

So...I feel really bad for not posting these past couple of weeks...so how about some amazing cookies (ENJOY!):

No..it's not a UFO...it's just one of the best cookies ever.  You know why?!

Because there is a Reese's in the center of it!!!

I got the recipe from Picky Palate.  Do you forgive me?!

Candy Bar Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches

2 sticks softened butter

1 Cup granulated sugar

3/4 Cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 Tablespoon pure vanilla

3 1/2 Cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

10 oz bag chocolate chips

Variety of snack size Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers and Kit Kat (I only used Reese's and Snickers...but I will now have to try Kit Kat the next time around)

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  In a stand or electric mixer, cream butter and sugars until well combined.  Add eggs and vanilla until well combined.

2.  Place flour, baking soda and salt in large bowl; mix then slowly add to wet ingredients.  Add chocolate chips to combine.  Using a cookie scoop take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of snack size candy bar.  Take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of candy bar.  Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until candy bar is enclosed with dough.  Place onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until cookies are baked to your liking.  Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.  Serve with a tall glass of milk, enjoy!

Makes about 24 LARGE Cookies

-----------------------------------------------

What would you put in the center of a chocolate chip cookie?
The Reese's was pretty amazing, but I wonder what more chocolate would taste like...hehe.

So many exciting things...

(NOTE: I had started writing this post a week ago, then my husband got me sick I got sick.)

Hi Everyone! Sorry for falling off the face of the earth for a week two weeks.  Here's an update:

1. MY MENISCUS ISN'T TORN!!!!!! I got a call from the doctor on Friday a couple Fridays ago.  Despite both the PT and the Dr. thinking it was torn, it was a combination of inflammation around my MCL and hamstring, along with bursitis in my knee (I think bursitis is another word for inflammation...but it made me look smart, didn't it?!).

I also had my first workout in months (I went swimming).  There was some pain...but I feel like I have pain doing nothing...so maybe I just need to adjust?! Come to find out...I shouldn't have any pain while working out (go figure).

2. I went through both an earthquake and a hurricane in one week.  I was on the fourth floor of my building at work when the earthquake hit...and it was probably one of the scariest things I've ever been though.  The scariest thing that happened with the hurricane was that we lost power for 24 hours and I couldn't go online AT ALL.  I did, however, catch up on this show with this theme song (can you guess?!...):

Where you lead
I will follow
Any-Anywhere that you tell me to
If you need-If you need me to be with you
I will follow
Where you lead

3.  I ate over a dozen pumpkin chocolate chip muffins in four days...and they weren't distributed evenly over the four days (don't judge).

I'll post later today (hopefully with pictures this time).  Hope you're all having a great Friday!
